🎉I PASSED my certification test in first try!!! 🎉 I was pleasantly surprised as I didn’t finish, ran out of time- only answered 89 out of the 100 questions!! I was beating myself up about second guessing myself even though Mrs Ortega made it clear not to- love it or leave it- right!!! Without this program- there is no way I would have passed, especially leaving 12 questions unanswered- and I know better then to do that! 😳 Thanks again MCA and Mrs Ortega, you ROCK! God bless you

4:54 "Clean up your social media." I can't tell you just how BAD social media is to human society on so many levels. Whenever I get job rejections, I viciously lash out and I always wonder if it's something on social media. The WORST part is that they won't even tell you if it was something they found on social media! Do you realize how disturbing this is? I do my due diligence and clean up whatever I have, but what if they found something that I didn't catch? The paranoia is extreme. All I can say is that if I go through with a medical coding program and can't get a job for one reason or another, I just might do something very detrimental, let's put it that way, because I will NOT tolerate rejections without giving me an answer. If I'm making any mistakes anywhere, TELL ME so that I don't keep repeating them!!!

Great to see more men entering this profession! That should be a bonus when applying for coding jobs.

This video is such a goldmine of information! I watched this video (and MCA’s other video “Interview Tips for Medical Coders”) so many times I had everything memorized! I wrote out notes and just absolutely absorbed all the info in these videos! I completed MCA on Dec 4, 2022; took and passed my AAPC exam on Dec 17, 2022, applied to every coding job under the sun in January, and on Feb 3rd, 2023 (on my birthday - talk about an amazing gift!) I received an email from my dream company that they would like to interview me! I applied everything I learned here and got the job! Thanks to this video I even negotiated a higher salary (which is something I never had the nerve to do before!) and now as a brand new coder with ZERO EXPERIENCE I will be making double what my current (non-coding) job is paying me. My jaw was on the floor when they offered me the job! I cannot wait to return to MCA to take the rest of the certification classes. If you are in the process of choosing a coding school, I absolutely recommend MCA. You will get the best education possible from the most amazing teacher! Thank you for everything Mrs. Ortega! I have a CBCS with the National Healthcareer Association and I’m having a hard time finding a job. I wondering if I should join the AAPC for practicode but may have to take their CPC test to gain CPC-A certification. I’m so frustrated 😔

If only I had seen THIS video before purchasing the AAPC CPC package INCLUDING Practicode! As a retired clinician, I did a lot of coding and insurance work, but not as my primary job. I thought Practicode would put me over the top of candidates as I would get to remove the "A" quickly. I can see how this may not be so, even for someone with my prior education and experience. The program itself is problematic for me since the clinic notes and operative reports have been adulterated with their own inputs, ie. "the doctor conferred with specialists", 'the doctor reviewed the medications", etc., data deletions/omissions, typos. Not real world and every time I can tell the notes have been changed, it drives me nuts! And don't even get me started on the platform itself- slow, won't load, submits answers while I'm still coding the case, marks my responses wrong- even when the rationales given match my own answers. So frustrating. I was going to get my "A" removed before interviewing- but now I'm headed over to your videos on how to interview without recent experience! Thanks for your perspective and for the guts to get out there and tell it like it is!

I encourage anyone watching this vidéo to not doubt. Mrs. Ortega is the best teacher and biggest blessing in this industry. This info is gold. After believing, I have completed CPC, COC AND CRC and already making a 6 figure income salary easily; I haven't even tapped into OUTPATIENT yet! You really are competition in the office the more credentialed you are. I intend to complete the CPMA and CPCO as well. Invest in yourself, you're worth it. ✨️

Hi. Thank you for your video and advice. Can anyone tell me what would be a good choice to work from home/remotely, AHIMA CCA or AAPC CPC? I am homebound/restricted. Are there homebased openings and opportunities immediately after getting certified? Anyone please let me know, I would be grateful. I was a doctor physician many years ago in Asia and now live in California for over 10 years now by the way so any advice related to location would also be helpful. I could not pursue medical residency and missed that opportunity because I'm a very old graduate and I am pretty sure no residency program will accept me. I am middle aged and have long gaps in employment.

Hi, I completed a Medical BIlling and Coding course as well as a Health Information Technology program, I have not not taken the CPC exam. I have been working at a hospital posting payments. I want to continue looking for a medical coding position. My question is do I need to take the CPC before applying?

I attended Bootcamp last month in Arlington and it was amazing! The course is intense and Ms. Ortega is an amazing instructor. If you listen and follow her instructions you will pass the exam. I just wanted to say Thank you to Mrs. Ortega and her school MCA. I found out today that I passed the CPC exam to become a Medical Coder. This year, and after about a year of doing intense researching on different Medical Coding schools, I finally decided to take the plunge and go with MCA (Medical Coding Academy in Texas). Attending College was nothing new to me. I have been in college over 5 years and completed all my Nursing school prerequisites, along with several first semester Nursing school classes. However, due to my living circumstances, I am unable to continue with Nursing school. I have found through countless hours of videos, books, and research, that another area I could do is Medical Coding. I have heard so many great things of people who had started and never regretted it . I researched so many schools, and was disappointed at the "fluff" they would put on their websites and videos to draw in students. I found that many of the classes were unnecessarily assigned and charged at high prices to incoming new students who had no idea that they didn't have to even take those classes to become a Medical coder. I wanted to find a school that had their students best interest at heart and not the bottom line dollar that they could charge to unknowing students who would then have to spend years paying back high college costs. I already had debt from all my prerequisites for nursing school. Also I realized, it was unnecessary for these schools to charge outrageously high prices on classes that weren't even needed to pass the certification and books that were charged at almost quadruple their actual cost. That's when I found MCA. Mrs. Ortega strives to have each and everyone of her students pass the Certification Exam. She does this by her no non sense and no fluff teaching. She doesn't charge for classes that weren't required to sit for the exam, and make life even more harder for people who are single mothers and have debts from other things they have incrued from "Life".....No she doesn't do that, she doesn't charge for classes as if though you were getting a degree- when a degree is not needed to become a Medical Coder. After attending and completing her course, I have realized that as you go through the coding books, that all the info that she gives are actually all her "gems" that she has learned from her many years as a Coder herself. All of this is about Ortega. Nothing about the industry whatsoever. The testimonies are of people who haven’t even seen their test scores. I’ve had to make these types of videos before, it’s not uncommon for companies to give discounts to the people on camera as well. Kind of feels like a money trap tbh

Upon completing the course for CCSP, and get the other two credentials and the exam is passed. Do you assist your students with job opportunities, or does the student have to inquire with the school? I am interested in taking your class and I want this as my career I am interested with going with AHIMA.

I'm going to take your advice. I just got my cpc-a credential, and i's going to not do the practicode that I unfortunately bought with my package thru aapc. You make a lot of sense about practicode not having the correct real world experience. A lot of what you mentioned, I did not have any idea of what they would have asked for had I gotten my A removed and applied for an interview.

Will any medical coding schooling qualify for that one year that counts towards the 80 hrs?
